Melissa Curry launched her international career with a widely celebrated Jewelry collection at Paris Fashion Week in 1999, following quickly from her debut exhibition at L’eclaireur boutique, Paris. Melissa’s dynamic and sculptural Jewelry became the spearhead for London’s Liberty millennium campaign, catapulting Melissa’s signature designs onto the shelves of trend setting fashion boutiques in London, Paris, New York and Tokyo - while her inimitable style and creative vision attracted international brands such as Absolut, Swarovski, Toni & Guy ( Natalia Campaign ), Phillipe Stark @ Bon, all whom commissioned her to collaborate on one-off projects that unified branding with fresh and exciting concepts, narrative and visionary drive. Melissa is influenced by world events as well as personal and cultural history, Melissa’s designs reflect a variety of moods, from the ancient power of China, to the romance of Film, and the mystic of Celtic mythology and tribalism. Her Smarties Collection is her interpretation of the need for hope and endurance, designed during the Obama Presidential Campaign, presented to Michelle Obama during her state visit in Ireland last year. Smartie’s became the forefront campaign for the Designer Dublin Campaign celebrating design and craft in Ireland 2011. “My Jewelry Designs play with volume, shape and texture and the fluidity of solid objects. My work process is more akin to sculpture, whether I am reducing or assembling a project, piece or narrative. I create mobile environments, that a woman can put on, to evoke a sense of playful elegance that she carries with her." Melissa was commissioned to design a collection for a dear friend of the Duchess of Cambridge to wear attending the Royal Wedding event in Buckingham Palace “Midnight Royale” Melissa has also designed a piece of Jewelry for Dress for Success, due to be launched later this year. On Melissa’s return to Ireland with her Son who needs have radically changed her life and work, Melissa collaborated with Sonya Lennon and Christian Ammann in their new concept DAIS.ie, A short fashion film documenting the Irish force in design, including (Philip Tracey, Pauric Sweeney, Sharon Wacob, John Rocha, Simone Rocha) through a poetic infusion of both Design and Landscape. Melissa returned to her roots and created the Talisman collection, evoking the magic and force from the Celts. Ruby Warrington, in The Times Style Magazine quoted Melissa “ as someone to look out for”. Madb her Torc was highlighted in the 21st Century Icons Exhibit, Celebrating the Year of Design and Craft in Ireland.
